Jets rally in fourth quarter for win

Roundup of Friday's games

The Associated Press

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The New York Jets rallied from a 27-7 deficit, scoring three touchdowns in the last 5:14 Friday night to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 28-27 in their last game of the preseason.

Brooks Bollinger's 1-yard pass to Matt Dominguez with 8 seconds remaining capped the comeback, which came against Philadelphia's second and third-stringers.

Bollinger came in with seven minutes remaining, replacing the rusty Quincy Carter. He led New York to Ian Smart's 1-yard TD run on a drive highlighted by Ken-Yon Rambo's 52-yard catch and run. The Jets then went 27 yards after rookie Roderick Bryant's interception, scoring on Bollinger's 4-yard pass to Terrance Stubbs with 3:10 left.

After forcing a punt, they concluded their charge with a 12-play drive covering 87 yards.

Bollinger, making a case to remain Chad Pennington's backup, was 11-for-20 for 168 yards.

Redskins 27, Falcons 0

LANDOVER, Md. - Mark Brunell and the Washington Redskins tuned up for the regular season with a rout of the Atlanta Falcons.

Brunell, who won the regular season starting job over Patrick Ramsey, went 4-for-6 for 51 yards on a 78-yard opening drive and was done for the night.

Michael Vick committed two turnovers in five snaps over his three series. Vick's first pass was a desperation lob, thrown while falling backward under pressure from blitzing cornerback Shawn Springs. It was picked off by safety Matt Bowen.

Vick finished the preseason 5-for-12 for 35 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Dolphins 20, Saints 19

NEW ORLEANS - Jay Fiedler threw for one touchdown, Sage Rosenfels threw for another and the Miami Dolphins got a victory in a game they did not want to play.

New Orleans nearly delayed the Dolphins' trip home, scoring a touchdown with 1:59 left, but the Saints missed the 2-point conversion, allowing Miami to get out of town quickly.

With Hurricane Frances headed toward Florida, the Miami players asked the NFL to cancel the game, but the league refused. Its only concession was starting 30 minutes earlier.

Michael Lewis returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from J.T. O'Sullivan in the final minutes to pull the Saints within one point. On the 2-point attempt, O'Sullivan's pass was caught by Zach Hilton out of the end zone.

Browns 24, Bears 10

CLEVELAND - Jeff Garcia didn't play nearly enough to work out the kinks in Cleveland's offense. By the looks of things, 60 minutes wouldn't have sufficed.

Rex Grossman and the Chicago Bears may have needed even more time to fix their problems.

Garcia overcame several penalties and a few drops to throw his first touchdown pass.

Rookie quarterback Luke McCown threw a pair of TD passes in the fourth quarter to rally the Browns (3-1), who trailed 10-7 at halftime.

Titans 27, Packers 7

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Titans cornerback Samari Rolle tipped a pass to linebacker Keith Bulluck, who returned the interception 70 yards for a touchdown, and then picked off a Brett Favre pass.

Rolle, who didn't play in the first three exhibitions because of a sore right ankle, played only the first two series.

Favre had his offensive line together for the first time this preseason with center Mike Flanagan back.

Favre overthrew a couple receivers, but got Green Bay on the board when he tossed a 53-yard TD pass to Robert Ferguson in the second quarter. He finished 10-of-20 for 113 yards.
