WR's success means money for schools

By Mark Curnutte
Enquirer staff writer

Chad Johnson will associate himself with the Catholic Inner-City Schools Education Fund.

The Bengals wide receiver will donate specific amounts of money - yet to be determined - for each yard, reception and touchdown he accumulates this season, his agent, Jerome Stanley, said this week.

The fund also is trying to link at least two major corporate donors to Johnson's performance-based donations.

Enrollment in the schools is 1,250, and 76 percent of students live below the poverty level.

The fund is providing $1.7 million in scholarships this year to students in the eight elementary schools, $396,000 for 179 high school scholarships and another $740,000 in operating expenses and grants.

The eight schools are St. Boniface, Northside; Resurrection and Holy Family, Price Hill; St. Francis de Sales, Walnut Hills; St. Joseph, West End; St. Francis Seraph, Over-the-Rhine; Our Mother of Sorrows, Roselawn; and Corryville Catholic, Corryville.
