Inside training camp

Today's schedule

4-5:30 p.m., practice

Directions

From downtown: Take I-75 South about 70 miles to Exit 126 (Georgetown, Ky.). Turn right off ramp onto U.S. 460 West. Stay on 460 for about 2 miles. Turn right at light onto Lemons Mill Road (1962 West). Turn right into driveway flanked by Georgetown College/Bengals signs.

Coming up

The team will practice once Friday morning and will travel to Tampa Bay later that day for Saturday night's preseason opener against the Buccaneers.

Injury report

• Left guard Eric Steinbach (elbow) was cleared for practice.

• Wide receivers Peter Warrick (knee) and Patrick Johnson (groin) and cornerback Tory James(unknown) didn't practice; they worked with an assistant trainer.

• Running back Kenny Watson (hamstring) sat out but said he hoped to be ready for Tampa Bay.

Palmer watch

Quarterback Carson Palmer is making all the throws. He threw a deep ball - one that looked as if it would be short leaving his hand - that hit wide receiver Jamall Broussard, who beat cornerback Keiwan Ratliff, in stride.

Palmer also is showing maturity by not forcing passes into coverage. On one play, he stepped forward, away from the pass rush, but coaches whistled the play dead as a sack.

Wednesday's highlights

Cornerback Reggie Myles, returning from a groin injury, intercepted Jon Kitna. Terrell Roberts also had an interception.

Coaching intensity remains high. Coach Marvin Lewis scolded rookie linebacker Larry Stevens, saying, "I'm tired of telling you guys to line up right." Lewis then spent 3-4 minutes talking with Stevens and explaining his point.

Preseason schedule

Aug. 14 - at Tampa Bay, 7 p.m.

Aug. 21 - NEW ENGLAND, 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 28 - at Atlanta, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 3 - INDIANAPOLIS, 7:30 p.m.
