Meet the Bengals

Who: Kim Herring

Position: Safety

Height: 6-0

Weight: 212

College: Penn State

Background: A starter in the Super Bowl two consecutive seasons (2000 and 2001), Herring reunites with Marvin Lewis, his defensive coordinator in Baltimore. Herring, who missed all of 2003 with a broken left forearm, is the likely starter at free safety.

Favorite movie: The Natural

Why: "Robert Redford, an aging baseball player, persevering through all the ups and downs and still being able to come back. I've probably seen it 20 times."

Favorite book: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Why: "It's probably one of the first books I actually really read. My mother gave that to me."

Mark Curnutte
