Inside training camp
4-5:30 p.m., practice (with NFL game officials)
From downtown: Take I-75 South about 70 miles to Exit 126 (Georgetown, Ky.). Turn right off ramp onto U.S. 460 West. Stay on 460 for about 2 miles. Turn right at light onto Lemons Mill Road (1962 West). Turn right into driveway flanked by Georgetown
The intrasquad scrimmage is at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The mock game is at 1 p.m. Saturday. Autograph sessions will follow both events.
Injured players Levi Jones and Eric Steinbach (offensive linemen), Peter Warrick (wide receiver) and Norris McCleary (defensive tackle) did conditioning and agility drills Wednesday morning.
Linebacker Kevin Hardy (back spasms) did not practice.
Quarterback Carson Palmer might need to put more steam on his dump passes to running backs. He could have too soft a touch, some observers say, and needs to give his backs more room to work.
Rookie defensive tackle Matthias Askew tipped a Palmer pass, which ended up in the arms of center Mike Mabry, who ran into the end zone from about the 5 for a touchdown.
Tight end Tony Stewart made a nice seal block inside on a touchdown run by Rudi Johnson.
Middle linebacker Nate Webster met wide receiver Chad Johnson on a short crossing pattern, and though there was no live hitting, linebackers coach Ricky Hunley yelled, "Picking up the pieces! Picking up the pieces!"
A heavy thunderstorm moved through Georgetown around 4:45 p.m..
