RB Hicks earns all-star honors in Europe

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Bengals running back Skip Hicks was named Wednesday to the All-NFL Europe League team.

Hicks, who plays for the Frankfurt Galaxy and will compete Saturday in World Bowl XII, was the only running back named to the all-star team.

The Bengals signed Hicks as a free agent Jan. 16. Hicks, 29, led the league with 72 points - twice as many as the second player.

He was second in rushing yards (661) and yards from scrimmage (873).

New England Patriots quarterback Rohan Davey (Berlin) and Cleveland Browns defensive end Corey Jackson (Frankfurt) were chosen as the 2004 NFL Europe League Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Players by the league's head coaches.

ROAD TRIP: Coach Marvin Lewis, his coaching staff, business manager Bill Connelly and equipment manager Rob Recker drove for a meeting Wednesday at the team's training facility at Georgetown (Ky.) College.

Players will report July 30 for the start of the 2004 camp.

ROSTER MOVE: The team waived defensive tackle Mondre Dickerson, a rookie free agent from Tennessee.
