Bengals re-sign DB Kaesviharn
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Bengals re-signed defensive back Kevin Kaesviharn to a three-year contract. Kaesviharn played free safety and cornerback last season and was a leader on special teams.
In three seasons with Cincinnati, Kaesviharn has played 42 games including 16 starts, with six interceptions and 145 tackles. Last season, he played in every game with seven starts.
He saw more snaps on special teams (312) than any other Bengals player last season and had one interception with 59 tackles, including a sack.
He concentrated on playing free safety last season, after spending his first two seasons primarily as a cornerback.
He tied for the team lead in interceptions both of his first two seasons, picking off three in 2001 and two in 2002.
"Kevin is a versatile player who gives us options because of his ability to play safety or cornerback," defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said. "Last year was his first year with safety as his primary position, and I expect him to take giant steps this year, building on the year's experience he had."
