Thrash back in D.C.
NFL notebook
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Receiver James Thrash returned to the Washington Redskins on Tuesday in a trade that sent a 2005 fifth-round draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Thrash began his NFL career with four seasons in Washington before signing a five-year deal with the Eagles as a free agent in 2001. He joins a crowded Redskins receiving corps and could be the No. 3 wideout, behind Laveranues Coles and Rod Gardner.
Thrash had 164 receptions for 2,026 yards and 15 touchdowns in three seasons with the Eagles. His best was 2001, when he had a career-high 63 catches for 833 yards and eight touchdowns. His numbers declined each of the next two seasons, and had 49 catches and one TD last year.
Thrash made a niche on special teams, finishing third in the NFC with a 24-yard return average. In Washington, he could team with Chad Morton on kickoffs.
The Eagles signed kicker Tim Duncan, who spent parts of the last two seasons with Arizona, to a two-year contract.
VIKINGS: Cornerback Denard Walker was waived by Minnesota Tuesday, a year after signing a four-year, $13 million contract. Walker, who became expendable when the team signed Antoine Winfield this month, had 58 tackles and one interception last season.
