Team will unveil new uniforms

Preseason: Champ Pats to visit

By Mark Curnutte
Cincinnati Enquirer

The Bengals unveiled a new primary logo, a block B with signature orange-and-black stripes, and announced that they will unveil new uniforms on April 22.

The long-anticipated change will not include any alteration of the distinctive striped helmets. The block B joins the helmet, Bengal head and leaping tiger as team logos.

Coach Marvin Lewis called the uniform redesign "not radical" but a "little more than subtle." The new uniforms are "predicated on movement, speed and energy," he said.

The block B will be on the new uniforms, the first change the team has made since 1997, when the leaping tiger was added to sleeves and sock color was changed from orange to black.

Champ Pats visit in preseason

The Bengals will meet the defending champion New England Patriots during their four-game preseason schedule announced Monday.

The opponents:

• at Tampa Bay (week of Aug. 12-16)

• New England (Aug. 19-23)

• at Atlanta (Aug. 26-30)

• Indianapolis (Sept. 2-5)

Specific dates will be announced later.
