Feeley expected to join Dolphins as starting QB
The Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS - Quarterback A.J. Feeley is set to make the leap from being a third-string quarterback in Philadelphia to a starter with the Dolphins.
The Dolphins are on the verge of trading a conditional second-round 2005 draft pick for Feeley, a third-year player who showed promise two seasons ago while posting a 4-1 record as a starter in place of the injured Donovan McNabb. Feeley is expected to replace incumbent Jay Fiedler, who is unlikely to return to the Dolphins in 2004.
Barring an unforeseen setback, three NFL sources confirmed late Saturday that the deal will be completed March 3, which is the first day the NFL will allow trades for the 2004 season.
The Dolphins also are in the process of negotiating a new contract with Feeley.
