Bengals left tackle Levi Jones spent most of Monday in a Houston jail after being arrested after midnight in a post-Super Bowl altercation at a nightclub.

Jones posted bond and was released from jail at about 3:30 p.m. Houston time. Booking arrangements were delayed in Houston because of the high number of arrests in the hours after Super Bowl XXXVIII, played Sunday night at Reliant Stadium.

Jones, 24, and his brother, Fred Robinson, both were charged with a Class D misdemeanor for interfering with a police officer. Jones tried to take a nightstick from a police officer and had to be wrestled to the ground, a police spokeswoman said.

The Bengals and Ken Zuckerman, Jones' agent, had no comment on his arrest. Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the team was gathering first-hand information and would not comment while legal proceedings are under way.

The incident involving Jones and Robinson reportedly spilled outside and forced several patrons, who had a $200 cover charge to get into the downtown Houston club, to be forced back out. Jones, 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, started all 16 games at left tackle for the Bengals in 2003.

He started the final 12 games of 2002, giving him 28 consecutive starts at left tackle.

He was the team's first-round draft choice, No. 10 overall, in the 2002 draft out of Arizona State. He is a native of Eloy, Ariz., and makes his offseason home in Las Vegas.
