Jones doubtful after arthroscopic surgery
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Left tackle Levi Jones had arthroscopic surgery Monday morning to repair a cartilage tear in his right knee.
"I would say right now he's at least doubtful to out," coach Marvin Lewis said. "There is a chance he could play this week. It's a matter of how much swelling there is."
Jones suffered a torn meniscus - the crescent-shaped cartilage between the femur and tibia bones - during the game Sunday at Baltimore.
If Jones is out, Scott Rehberg is expected to start. Rehberg went in for Jones midway through the third quarter against the Ravens, was beaten for two of Baltimore's six sacks and flagged for two illegal motion penalties.
Another possibility could be to move right tackle Willie Anderson to left tackle and play Victor Leyva at right tackle.
Leyva, a third-year lineman and former college teammate of Jones' at Arizona State, has not played this season. He was inactive for nine games and dressed, but not play, four times. Rookie Scott Kooistra is listed as second-string at right tackle.
Rehberg went in cold at Baltimore and hadn't played left tackle in the regular season.
Jones, the team's first-round pick in 2002, has started 27 consecutive games at left tackle, a key position because it protects the quarterback's blind side. Rehberg, 30, is a seventh-year pro with 26 career starts.
