Colts' Manning gets OK to play
NFL notebook: Test on QB's elbow reveals no injury
The Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS - Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is expected to play Sunday against New England after an MRI on his right elbow revealed no damage.
Doctors still advised Manning not to throw during Thursday's practice, a day after Manning said he felt a "twinge" in the elbow on his throwing arm.
Coach Tony Dungy said he expects Manning to throw today, and the player is listed as probable on the team's injury report.
"It was a good sign that the MRI was negative," Dungy said. "We felt it was a very minor situation, but you always feel better when you get it confirmed."
Manning declined comment after practice. He hurt his arm Wednesday during a morning walkthrough and was limited in practice that afternoon to protect his throwing arm.
Manning has thrown for 3,105 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. He has not missed a start in his six-year NFL career.
BUFFALO: Drew Bledsoe is experiencing headaches and nausea after a mild concussion, but the quarterback hopes to play against the Giants Sunday. He is listed as probable for the game.
49ERS: Quarterback Jeff Garcia will start against Baltimore Sunday after missing three games because of a high ankle sprain.
GIANTS: After a self-imposed workout Monday, a sprained left knee forced Jeremy Shockey to miss practice Thursday. His status for the Giants' home game Sunday against Buffalo is uncertain.
FALCONS: Michael Vick will be in uniform for the first time this season Sunday, as backup quarterback behind Doug Johnson at Houston. The Pro Bowl player, who broke his right leg in preseason, practiced for the second straight day on Thursday.
"It felt pretty good," Vick said. "I'll just keep taking it day by day and see how it feels tomorrow."
JAGUARS: The team waived Keith Mitchell, halting the comeback hopes of the linebacker who briefly lost feeling in his arms and legs in a game against Buffalo on Sept. 14. Mitchell recovered and played in two games, but had been inactive in five of the team's last six.
