Notebook: Browns' Green cut in alleged argument
'Domestic' dispute being investigated
The Associated Press
BEREA, Ohio - Cleveland Browns running back William Green sustained a puncture wound to his back Wednesday following a possible domestic dispute in his home.
Green, currently under suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse program, was cut after an incident with "domestic overtones," team president Carmen Policy said.
Green's wound, which police said was below his left shoulder blade, did not require surgery or stitches.
RAIDERS: The NFL Players' Association is expected to challenge the league's right to retest drug samples for evidence of the previously undetectable steroid THG.
The NFL said last month it would retest urine samples for traces of THG after the designer drug became the target of an investigation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Oakland placed defensive end Trace Armstrong (shoulder), linebacker Travian Smith (knee) and backup running back Justin Fargas (knee) were put on injured reserve.
49ERS: Quarterback Tim Rattay will get his third straight start for San Francisco in place of injured Jeff Garcia Sunday in Green Bay.
JAGUARS: Running back Fred Taylor (knee, thigh) was listed as probable on the injury report Wednesday.
GIANTS: Safety Shaun Williams (knee) and defensive end Kenny Holmes (knee) were placed on IR.
FALCONS: Michael Vick's recovery took a step backward Wednesday after a teammate stepped on the quarterback's right ankle in practice.
REDSKINS: Patrick Ramsey (foot) remains questionable for Sunday's game at Miami.
DOLPHINS: Miami re-signed Oronde Gadsden, who last played Oct. 13, 2002.
BILLS: Travis Henry (ankle) and Eric Moulds (groin) were listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Indianapolis.
Both starting offensive tackles, Mike Williams (left shoulder) and Jonas Jennings (hip), are also hurt.
PANTHERS: Safety Jarrod Cooper was suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
