Pollard to miss 2 games for Indy
NFL notebook: Tight end joins wideout Harrison on Colts' sidelines
The Associated Press
The Indianapolis Colts' Marcus Pollard could miss at least two games because of a sprained knee ligament the starting tight end suffered during a practice, coach Tony Dungy said Friday.
The injury Pollard suffered during practice Thursday is the latest blow for the Colts' passing game heading into Sunday's matchup against the visiting New York Jets (3-6). Wide receiver Marvin Harrison is expected to sit out with a strained hamstring.
Pollard hurt his left knee when he got tangled with other players while blocking on a running play.
"He just got hit from the outside," Dungy said. "We iced it and actually he was doing better when he left (Thursday). But the MRI showed some ligament damage."
Pollard is the third-leading receiver this season for the Colts (7-2), with 23 receptions for 366 yards and two touchdowns.
Harrison, the team's top receiver, did not practice this week after straining his hamstring during Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
Dallas Clark, the Colts' top draft choice in April, is expected to start Sunday's game and will be backed up by veteran Joe Dean Davenport. Clark is returning from a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the last two games.
Pollard joins Harrison, safety Idrees Bashir (shoulder), defensive tackle Montae Reagor (chest), offensive tackle Tarik Glenn (knee), cornerback Joseph Jefferson (pelvis), middle linebacker Jim Nelson (clavicle) and receiver-kick returner Brad Pyatt (neck) on the sidelines for the Colts on Sunday.
Bashir and Nelson are tentatively scheduled to return in three to four weeks. The Colts hope Reagor and Glenn will be available for next week's game at Buffalo. Jefferson and Pyatt have been placed on the team's injured reserve list and are lost for the year.
BUCS: Receiver Keenan McCardell did not practice Friday because of a strained right hamstring and is questionable for Sunday's game against Green Bay.
McCardell, the Buccaneers' second-leading receiver with 44 receptions for a team-high 693 yards and six touchdowns, was injured during practice Thursday.
"He feels better," coach Jon Gruden said. "He participated in the walk-through, then we held him out of the practice for precautionary reasons. But we're optimistic that he'll play. He's a tough guy."
Receiver Joe Jurevicius, sidelined since the second week of the season with a right knee sprain, is also questionable. He practiced again Friday, but Gruden said it was too soon to say whether he can return against Green Bay.
TITANS: Six members of Tennessee's defense were fined by the NFL on Friday for an end-zone celebration in last week's victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Linebacker Keith Bulluck, defensive tackle Robaire Smith, safety Tank Williams, cornerbacks Andre Dyson and Samari Rolle, and defensive end Kevin Carter were fined a total of $40,000, for their celebration in the 31-7 victory.
BILLS: Wide receiver Eric Moulds is questionable for Sunday's game against Houston because of a groin injury. He hurt his groin in Buffalo's 22-16 overtime win over Cincinnati on Oct. 5. He missed the next two games against the New York Jets and Washington because of the injury.
CHARGERS: Defensive end Raylee Johnson and offensive lineman Solomon Page will not play Sunday at Denver because of injuries.
Johnson missed Friday's practice with a sprained foot, and Page has a sprained ankle.
Center Jason Ball, who missed the last three games with an ankle injury, practiced on a limited basis and will be a game-time decision.
BROWNS: Cleveland activated wide receiver Frisman Jackson from its injured-physically unable to perform list. Signed as a rookie free agent before last season, Jackson caught one pass. This season he was sidelined with a broken foot.
On Tuesday, the Browns released Kevin Johnson, who led the team in receptions, yards receiving and touchdowns since being drafted in 1999.
GIANTS: Matt Bryant, who has not played since pulling a hamstring Oct. 5, may kick Sunday.
