Gildon sets Steelers' career sack record

NFL notebook

The Associated Press

Jason Gildon had three sacks against Arizona Sunday after getting only two in the first eight games. Gildon broke L.C. Greenwood's team career record of 73 1/2 sacks. Gildon now has 76 sacks.

• Before the Colts' Marvin Harrison left the game with an injury, he and Peyton Manning connected on their 65th touchdown. That tied them with Jim Kelly and Andre Reed for third on the NFL's list of most prolific TD combinations. Dan Marino and Mark Clayton (79) are second; Steve Young and Jerry Rice (85) are first.

• Atlanta's Warrick Dunn rushed for 178 yards, his second best total as a pro. He had 210 vs. Dallas in 2000 while playing for Tampa Bay.

• Detroit's Dre' Bly missed a second straight game - the only two he's missed in five seasons - with a hamstring injury.

• With 158 total yards Sunday, Tiki Barber now has 10,147 all purpose yards, the first Giant to pass the 10,000-yard mark. His 10 catches gave him a team record 397, two more than Joe Morrison's old mark.

• The Browns have lost seven straight road games against AFC West teams and have scored 20 or fewer points in eight of their nine games.

• Tampa Bay's Simeon Rice had two sacks to help the Bucs set an NFL record of 69 straight games with at least one sack. The Bucs also have gone 50 consecutive games with a takeaway.

• Washington's Bruce Smith did not start for the second straight week, but got one sack to move within one-half sack of tying Reggie White's all-time record.

• Buffalo's Travis Henry ran for 80 yards, ending his two-game streak of breaking 100.

• Former Chiefs running back Marcus Allen was awarded his Hall of Fame ring at halftime of Sunday's game with Cleveland.

• The Cardinals, who lost at Pittsburgh, are winless in nine road games dating to last season.

• Carolina's John Kasay made both his field goals Sunday and is a perfect 20-for-20 on the year.
