Griese moves closer to getting Miami start

NFL notebook

The Associated Press

DAVIE, Fla. - Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Fiedler was held out of practice with a knee injury Friday, increasing the chance that Brian Griese will make his first start for the team Monday night.

Coach Dave Wannstedt has said all week that he will announce a starting quarterback Monday before the game at San Diego.

TEXANS: Cornerback Aaron Glenn, who missed the past two games with a strained groin and was listed as questionable, is expected to play in Sunday's game at Indianapolis.

EAGLES: Cornerback Bobby Taylor is questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets due to a strained left foot.

RAMS: Running back Marshall Faulk probably will be in uniform Sunday against Pittsburgh, but he most likely would be available only in case of emergency.

COWBOYS: Dallas is moving its training camp from San Antonio to Oxnard, Calif.

The team said financial and scheduling conflicts forced the Cowboys to look elsewhere. A convention was scheduled at the Alamodome during the same time the Cowboys were to train in San Antonio next summer.

VIKINGS: Minnesota placed running back John Avery on injured reserve Friday and activated wide receiver Nick Davis from the physically unable to perform list.
