Injured shoulder sidelines Plummer

NFL Notebook

The Associated Press

Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer did not start Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a shoulder injury. Plummer was suited up and available, but Steve Beuerlein started in place of Plummer and threw an interception on the Broncos' first play from scrimmage. Plummer was listed as questionable on the Broncos' injury report.

Plummer partially separated his throwing shoulder four weeks ago against San Diego, then aggravated the injury last Sunday against Kansas City.

• Philadelphia cornerback Troy Vincent, out since the opener with a hamstring injury, returned and had an interception.

• Patriots defensive tackle Richard Seymour had two deflections that were turned into interceptions and a sack.

• The Redskins' 35-13 loss to Tampa Bay Sunday was their first game this season decided by more than three points.

• The Panthers (5-0) have now won seven straight dating to last season and are one of three remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL. The others are Kansas City (6-0) and Minnesota (5-0).

•  Tennessee's victory was the 80th for Jeff Fisher, making him the fourth-youngest coach to reach that total behind John Madden, Don Shula and Bill Cowher.

• Bills leading receiver Eric Moulds and defensive tackle Sam Adams did not play against the New York Jets.

• Oakland's Jerry Rice extended his NFL record by catching a pass in his 262nd straight game.

• Kansas City's Dante Hall entered Sunday with kick return scores in an NFL-record four straight games. He nearly made it five, but he was tripped up by Packers punter Josh Bidwell in the second quarter.

• Arizona's turnover ratio fell to minus-14, worst in the NFL.

• The Jets played without starting defensive end John Abraham, who was held out because of a drunken driving arrest Oct. 1.

• Denver's Clinton Portis, the AFC's fourth-leading rusher, had just 47 yards against Pittsburgh and lost a fumble.

• Arizona's Marcel Shipp, starting for injured Emmitt Smith, gained 61 yards and caught five passes for 47 yards.
