Baltimore's win a loss for Bengals
Trail by two games entering contest with 1st-place Ravens
Enquirer wire services
The Bengals lost ground to two of the three teams in the AFC North as they enjoyed their bye week Sunday, including their next opponent, Baltimore.
The Ravens (3-2) held on to the division lead following a 26-18 victory at Arizona.
Running back Jamal Lewis, who earlier this season broke Corey Dillon's NFL single-game rushing record, set a Ravens record with his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing game.
The league's leading rusher gained 131 yards on 21 carries. He had X-rays when he injured his shoulder in the second half, but was fine.
"It was all right," Lewis said. "It was just a little hurt."
Cleveland (3-3) took over sole possession of second place in the North with a 13-7 victory over the Raiders.
It was only the Browns' 10th home victory against 25 losses since their rebirth in 1999.
William Green rushed for 145 yards to become the first Cleveland back to have consecutive 100-yard games since Kevin Mack in 1986.
Pittsburgh fell to 2-4 following a 17-14 loss at Denver. It was the Steelers' third straight loss.
Also Sunday
The Kansas City Chiefs overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, then beat the Green Bay Packers 40-34.
The Carolina Panthers beat Indianapolis 23-20 in overtime in a battle of unbeatens. The Panthers (6-0), Chiefs (6-0) and Minnesota Vikings (5-0), who had a bye Sunday, are the lone NFL undefeated teams.
Bill Parcells led the Dallas Cowboys to their fourth straight win, 23-21 over Philadelphia. The Cowboys are 4-1 for the first time since 1995 and lead the NFC East.
Defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay rebounded from Monday night's devastating loss to Indianapolis with a 35-13 victory over Washington.
