GREEN BAY, Wis. - Receiver Antonio Freeman and Packers coach Mike Sherman parted on bad terms last summer after fighting about money and other matters.
They were reunited Wednesday when injured-riddled Green Bay brought back Brett Favre's all-time favorite receiver.
Freeman, who caught 57 touchdown passes between 1995-2001, signed a one-year, guaranteed deal and got his old No. 86 jersey back from injured rookie Carl Ford. He is slated to start at split end Sunday against Detroit in place of Pro Bowl receiver Donald Driver, who is out due to a neck injury.
"You have to take the situation as a blessing for both of us. I was available, and they were willing to welcome me back," Freeman said.
PATRIOTS: New England lost another defensive captain when linebacker Ted Johnson broke his left foot, less than a week after the team released safety Lawyer Milloy.
New England, coming off a 31-0 loss at Buffalo, plays at Philadelphia Sunday.
EAGLES: All-Pro safety Brian Dawkins will miss two to six weeks because of a sprained right foot.
Pro Bowl cornerback Bobby Taylor also has a sprained foot, and defensive end Brandon Whiting strained a hamstring. Both are doubtful for Sunday's game against New England.
TITANS: A sore left knee didn't keep quarterback Steve McNair from taking part in practice.
McNair said he woke up after Sunday night's victory over Oakland with his left knee swollen and sore. He has been receiving treatment and said the knee feels good.
"I'm used to it. No problem. I can do it with my eyes closed," McNair said of playing through an injury.
Tennessee agreed to terms with 44-year-old kicker Gary Anderson, the NFL's career scoring leader, making him once again the league's oldest active player. The Titans lost kicker Joe Nedney for the season to a torn ligament in his right leg Sunday against Oakland.
Anderson has 2,233 career points.
STEELERS: Linebacker Joey Porter ran during practice but did not take part in contact work. Porter, shot in a drive-by shooting Aug. 31 in Denver, is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at Kansas City.
CHARGERS: Wide receiver David Boston missed practice because of a sore heel and is questionable for Sunday's game against Denver. Coach Marty Schottenheimer described Boston's ailment as "a soft-tissue problem that makes it uncomfortable. There's nothing structurally wrong with it."
RAVENS: More than six months later, Corey Fuller hasn't forgiven Cleveland for releasing him.
"It was a injustice what they did, that's the bottom line," Baltimore's cornerback said during a profanity-laced conference call.
Fuller was released in February in a salary dump by the Browns, who were $25 million over the cap. Before the 2002 season, Fuller agreed to restructure his contract so he could stay in Cleveland.
"I gave back $2 million the year before that - how is my contract a problem?" Fuller said Wednesday.
The Ravens play host to the Browns on Sunday.
TEXANS: Houston re-signed linebacker Jimmy McClain and waived linebacker Armegis Spearman.
McClain played 15 games for Houston on special teams in 2002. Spearman spent the last two seasons on the Bengals' injured reserve list.
JETS: Five-time Pro Bowl kick returner Michael Bates signed with New York. Bates, entering his 11th season, went to the 1996-2000 Pro Bowls while with Carolina.
