The Bengals this afternoon released or waived 13 players to reach the 53-man limit.
Contracts were terminated for seventh-year defensive Reinard Wilson and sixth-year linebacker Steve Foley.
Dorsch out the door
Travis Dorsch is looking for a fresh start after a wasted year with the Bengals.
"It's a chance to start over," Dorsch said. "It's almost like draft day again."
One the nation's best college punters, he was drafted in the fourth round in 2002 and essentially given the job as placekicker. The Bengals coaches changed their minds when incumbent Neil Rackers performed well in training camp, then kept Dorsch around as insurance - a wasted roster spot.
Dorsch got into only one game last season, and lost the punting competition to incumbent Nick Harris in preseason.
Asked to sum up his stay in Cincinnati, Dorsch said, "How can I put this nicely? It was a mix between just the joy of being a professional athlete, which is what you dream about growing up as a kid, and a little bit of Barnum & Bailey mixed in with it."

The remaining 11 other players were waived:
Two fourth-year players, wide receiver Danny Farmer and linebacker Armegis Spearman;
Third-year tight end Sean Brewer;
Three second-year players, punter Travis Dorsch, center Thatcher Szalay and free safety Lamont Thompson; and
Five rookies, defensive end Ja'Warren Blair, tailback Ray Jackson, offensive tackle Belton Johnson, defensive tackle Langston Moore and wide receiver Kevin Walter.
"We kept people who, when you look at the 46 people you dress on Sunday, they have the opportunity to be there or have some promise for the future," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said.
