Brown denies restructuring report by CBS

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Bengals president Mike Brown denied a CBS Sports report Sunday that he is seeking advice on restructuring the team's front office.

"This is the first I've heard of that," Brown said through team spokesman Jack Brennan. "And the report is inaccurate."

The NFL Today's Jim Nantz, citing "NFL insider" Jay Glazer, said Brown is "quietly seeking advice from league-office executives, the players union and others regarding options in restructuring the team's football operations department."

Greg Aiello, the NFL's vice president of public relations, reached Sunday at his New York home, said the league had no comment.

"A lot of conversations take place between our office and the clubs, but we don't discuss them," Aiello said. "I'll have to send you to the Bengals on this one."

Carl Francis, communications director of the NFL Players Association, didn't return a telephone message left at his suburban Washington, D.C., home.

The Bengals tied a franchise record by losing their 13th game this season Sunday. The Bengals are 54-136 since Brown took control of the franchise.

The report is the second one this season by a national television network about the Bengals front office. On Oct, 6, Fox reported on its pre-game show that Brown had been inquiring about hiring Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron about becoming the Bengals coach and general manager.

The Bengals, the Bears and Jauron all denied that report. Jauron is a former Bengals defensive back and a close friend of Bengals coach Dick LeBeau.
