Lung injury vs. Panthers ails Warrick

By Mark Curnutte
Cincinnati Enquirer

Bengals wide receiver Peter Warrick spent Sunday night at Christ Hospital after suffering a chest injury in that day's game at Carolina.

Team trainer Paul Sparling said Warrick received a "pulmonary contusion" when he was hit by Panthers cornerback Reggie Howard on a pass play.

"Bruised lungs," Sparling said.

Warrick complained of shortness of breath during the game and missed much of the final three quarters. He had X-rays upon returning to Cincinnati on Sunday night and was admitted to the hospital for observation.

Sparling lists Warrick as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"It's nothing to play with," Sparling said. "Respiration is more difficult. He still can't take a full breath."

The third-year receiver from Florida State is second on the Bengals with 43 receptions and 508 yards. He is tied with Chad Johnson for the team lead with five touchdown receptions.
