NFL injury report
Fiedler back for Miami after QB Lucas injured
The Associated Press
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ray Lucas was hurt in Sunday's 38-21 loss at Buffalo, but regular starter Jay Fiedler replaced him. Fiedler is expected to be ready to start when the Dolphins host the Chicago Bears next Monday night.
Lucas was diagnosed with a nerve injury in his neck after he was hit on a blitz by Bills linebacker Keith Newman and fell forward into Miami tackle Todd Wade early in the third quarter.
Lucas lay on the icy field for several minutes before slowly walking off, aided by four trainers. Fiedler came in, but he's still recovering from a broken right thumb and completed 5 of 9 passes for 15 yards and an interception. Third-stringer Sage Rosenfels finished.
Lucas was making his sixth straight start in place of Fiedler. Including Sunday, the Dolphins went 2-4 in those starts, although they won their two previous games. Lucas completed 51 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and six interceptions. He went 6-of-11 for 40 yards and a touchdown Sunday.
San Diego Chargers defensive tackle Jamal Williams dislocated his left ankle in a overtime win against the Denver Broncos and will miss the rest of the season.
Denver kick returner Scottie Montgomery complained of numbness in his neck after he was carted off the field in the fourth quarter, but tests were negative and he flew home with his team.
Packers running back Ahman Green bruised his left kneecap early in the third quarter of Green Bay's 30-20 win over Chicago. Green got hurt when he was tackled by Mike Brown at the end of a 29-yard run. He came back for one carry, a 1-yard run, but aggravated the injury.
"It's all right, just sore," Green said.
The Bears also lost their starting running back, Anthony Thomas, who broke his right index finger in the first half.
Packers left tackle Chad Clifton, blindsided by a block from Warren Sapp in the previous week's loss in Tampa Bay, watched the Bears game from his home in Green Bay after his release from the hospital on Saturday.
Arizona Cardinals guard Pete Kendall is expected to miss at least four weeks after spraining his left knee in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Kendall was injured on Marcel Shipp's 1-yard run early in the second quarter, when he was knocked backward over the pile while trying to block Chiefs linebacker Marvcus Patton. Kendall was taken from the field on a cart.
Arizona wide receiver Frank Sanders sprained his right foot in the first quarter and didn't return.
The Colts' Edgerrin James continued to have injury problems, sitting out the final few series of Indianapolis' 19-3 win over Houston after irritating his injured right ankle. James got hurt against Denver the previous week; he missed two games earlier this season with a strained hamstring and torn rib cartilage.
James has just 778 yards this season after missing the final 10 games of 2001 with a left knee injury.
Atlanta running back Warrick Dunn left in the second quarter of an overtime win at Minnesota with a sprained right ankle.
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield was scratched from the starting lineup against Seattle with a stomach virus.
