NFL Injury report
Bears' Chandler out with sprained ankle
The Associated Press
The Chicago Bears' injury problems at quarterback keep mounting.
Chris Chandler sprained his left ankle in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. He was helped off the field and replaced by Jim Miller, who has been bothered by tendinitis in his throwing elbow.
Chandler, who left the Bears' game against the New England Patriots two weeks ago with a sprained neck, was making his fifth start of the season in place of Miller.
Miller led Chicago to 10 points in the final 2:33 of regulation and won in overtime, 20-17.
Atlanta Falcons linebacker John Holecek broke his right arm against Carolina. Panthers linebackers Dan Morgan and Hannibal Navies also were injured.
Morgan, in his first game back after missing two with a groin injury, injured his left shoulder. Navies, a starter in nine of 11 games this season, sprained an ankle.
St. Louis Rams starting left guard Tom Nutten broke his leg early in the second half against the Washington Redskins. The Rams played without running back Marshall Faulk, who sat out his second straight game with foot and ankle injuries.
Redskins cornerbacks Fred Smoot (bruised lower back) and Darrell Green (bruised hip) were injured in the fourth quarter, but Smoot returned to the game.
Bengals kick returner Brandon Bennett hyperextended his right knee against the Steelers and Pittsburgh RG Kendall Simmons injured his right knee.
Baltimore Ravens left guard Edwin Mulitalo aggravated a back strain in warmups and didn't play against the Titans. Tennessee safety Rich Coady and receiver Kevin Dyson injured their hamstrings.
New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister didn't play against the Cleveland Browns because of a sprained right ankle. In the game, Browns cornerback Daylon McCutcheon injured his right thumb and Saints linebacker Sedrick Hodge had a mild concussion.
San Diego Chargers leading receiver Curtis Conway aggravated a shoulder injury against the Miami Dolphins, saw limited action and didn't catch a pass. Chargers cornerback Ryan McNeil hurt his right forearm and was taken to the locker room on a cart. Tackle Ed Ellis also left on a cart with a high right ankle sprain.
Bills CB Antoine Winfield injured his lower right leg against the Jets, while Jets RB Richie Anderson sprained his left ankle.
Tampa Bay quarterback Brad Johnson missed most of the opening quarter of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers after he was poked in the right eye during the Buccaneers' first possession.
Green Bay led 7-0 when Brad Johnson re-entered with 10:04 left in the second quarter.
Vikings running back Michael Bennett strained his right calf against the Patriots. Jacksonville safety Donovin Darius bruised his left shoulder against the Cowboys. Dallas special teams player Randal Williams had a concussion and cornerback Duane Hawthorne hyperextended his right knee.
