San Francisco (3-1) at Seattle (1-3). Seattle coach Mike Holmgren, who won the Super Bowl as offensive coordinator in San Francisco, entertains his former team.

STARS

Quarterbacks

- Brett Favre, Packers, threw for three touchdowns in leading a 28-10 victory at New England. He has 301 TD passes for his career.

- Peyton Manning, Colts, passed for 284 yards and a touchdown, going 30-for-40 in a 22-20 win over Baltimore.

- Daunte Culpepper, Vikings, led Minnesota to its first victory by going 27-for-36 for 295 yards and two TD passes. He also rushed six times for 39 yards and a score in beating Detroit 31-24.

- Rookie Joey Harrington, Lions, threw for two TDs, going 25-for-41 for 309 yards in the loss to Minnesota.

- Marc Bulger, Rams, playing for the first time in his two-year NFL career, threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth as the Rams beat Oakland 28-13.

Running backs

- Travis Henry, Bills, rushed for 159 yards and touchdowns of 1 and 23 yards in a 31-24 win at Houston.

- Ahman Green, Packers, rushed for 136 yards and scored his first two touchdowns of the season on an 8-yard reception and a 1-yard run, in a 28-10 victory at New England. He also became the fourth player in as many weeks to rush for more than 100 yards against the Patriots, following Priest Holmes, LaDainian Tomlinson and Ricky Williams.

- Mike Alstott, Bucs, ran for 126 yards on 17 attempts and scored both touchdowns in a 17-3 victory against Cleveland.

- Marshall Faulk, Rams, slowed by back spasms last week, ran for a season-high 158 yards.

- Eddie George, Titans, rushed for 100 yards for the first time this season, getting 113, and scored two touchdowns as Tennessee beat Jacksonville 23-14.

Receivers

-On his 40th birthday, Jerry Rice, Raiders, caught seven passes for 133 yards, including a 53-yard gain on the game's first play, in a 28-13 defeat at St. Louis.

- Curtis Conway, Chargers, had eight catches for 129 yards and scored one touchdown on an 11-yard run in a 35-34 victory over Kansas City.

- Plaxico Burress, Steelers, had eight catches for 149 yards in Pittsburgh 34-7 victory at Cincinnati.

- Marvin Harrison, Colts, caught 12 passes for 150 yards in a 22-20 victory against Baltimore.

Special Teams

- Michael Lewis, Saints, a former beer delivery truck driver who debuted in the NFL last year at age 29, returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns and had 70 yards receiving in a 43-27 win at Washington. Lewis' kickoff return went for 90 yards and his 83-yard punt runback tied the franchise record. He had 356 yards combined.

- Mike Vanderjagt, Colts, kicked five field goals, including the winning 38-yarder with 4 seconds to go in a 22-20 victory over Baltimore.

- Joe Nedney, who hadn't had a field goal in the past three games, scored on kicks of 40, 26 and 33 yards for Tennessee.

- Rookie Antwaan Randle El went 99 yards on a kickoff return, the second-longest in Steelers history, to open the second half of a 34-7 victory over Cincinnati.

Defense

- Safety Jay Bellamy, Saints, had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the first quarter, and a total of five sacks in a 43-27 win over Washington.

- Safety Lee Flowers, Steelers, and two interceptions and five tackles in a 34-7 rout of the Bengals. Flowers hadn't intercepted a pass since the fourth game of 2000, a span of 34 games.

MILESTONES

Emmitt Smith, Cowboys, had 59 yards rushing, leaving him 175 yards from passing Walter Payton to become the NFL's all-time rushing leader. ... Brett Favre, Packers, threw three touchdown passes at New England, giving him 301 for his career. Favre moved into third place, ahead of John Elway's 300 scoring passes, and trails only Dan Marino's 420 and Fran Tarkenton's 342. ... Jason Hanson, who has 245 career field goals, passed Eddie Murray for the most in Lions history.

STREAKS

Since winning their first three games, the Panthers have lost three straight by a combined seven points, all in the closing minutes. ... Super Bowl champion New England won its first three and now has lost three straight. ... Minnesota's 31-24 win against Detroit snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Vikings. ... With St. Louis' 28-13 victory over Oakland, the NFL no longer has any unbeaten teams. The Rams ended a five-game slide.

RED-DOGGING

Two former New Jersey Red Dogs of Arena Football had an impact Sunday, with QB Tommy Maddox of Pittsburgh and kick returner-receiver Michael Lewis of New Orleans leading victories.

STARTS

The Saints (5-1) are off to their best start since 1993. Their 43 points at Washington were their most since 1987. ... Cincinnati (0-6) has been outscored 123-17 in the first half this season and is the only winless team. ... Tampa Bay (5-1) won its fifth straight to match the team's best start after six games. The Bucs also began 5-1 in 1979 and 1997.

STATS

The Bengals are 0-6 for the fifth time since 1991. ... Washington's first scoring drive covered 75 yards, 36 yards more than New Orleans' first four scoring drives combined. ... David Carr's 17-yard run was the first TD rushing for Houston. Texans wideout Corey Bradford's 81-yard pass reception was the longest of his career. ... Matt Stover's two field goals included a 51-yarder that matched his career long. ... Peyton Manning passed Bert Jones to become the Colts No. 2 quarterback in yards passing. Manning has 17,698 and trails John Unitas' 39,768.

SLOPPY

Patrick Ramsey, making his first NFL start for Washington, threw three interceptions in his first five passes. ... The Ravens fumbled seven times, losing two.

SWINGS

The Ravens held Colts RB Edgerrin James to a career-low 43 yards rushing on 17 carries, the second straight week he failed to crack 100 at home after doing it in 10 straight games. ... Eric Moulds, Bills, didn't catch a pass until the third quarter and finished with four for 56 yards. He caught at least eight passes in each of Buffalo's first five games. ... After going scoreless for 56 minutes, Dallas got an 80-yard touchdown pass to Joey Galloway and a 24-yarder to rookie Antonio Bryant to beat Carolina 14-13. ... The Titans, with one of the league's worst defenses, held Jacksonville to just 77 yards in the first half and a season-low 198 yards, only 68 passing. ... Tampa Bay's defense did not score for the first time in five games. ... The Browns had never lost to the Bucs before Sunday, winning all five previous meetings.

TURNOVERS

The Saints had four interceptions, seven sacks, two dropped would-be interceptions and two more interceptions called back by penalties. For Washington, Ifeanyi Ohalete returned an interception 78 yards for a score as New Orleans won 43-27. ... LB Chris Claiborne, Lions, ran 20 yards with an interception against Minnesota, his first NFL TD. ... The Chargers committed only three turnovers in starting 4-0 under Marty Schottenheimer. They have eight turnovers in their last two games.

SACKS

Saints DT Darren Howard had a career-high three sacks vs. Washington. Fellow DT Kenny Smith added two. ... Kevin Carter had two of the Titans' three sacks. ... The Bucs defense extended a streak of consecutive games without allowing a touchdown to three. DT Warren Sapp led the way, sacking Tim Couch twice in a 17-3 win over Cleveland. ... Rodney Bailey had 21/2 sacks and Joey Porter added two for Pittsburgh against Cincinnati.

PENALTIES

The Saints and Redskins combined for 23 penalties for 177 yards. ... Buffalo's tying touchdown drive in the fourth quarter at Houston was aided by two 15-yard penalties against Texans linebacker Jay Foreman. The most costly penalty was a taunting call on third down following an incomplete pass at the Buffalo 34 that gave the Bills a first down.

SUPER SUB

QB Doug Johnson, Falcons, playing for injured Michael Vick, was 19-of-25 for 257 yards with one TD pass and one TD run in a 17-10 victory over the New York Giants.

INJURIES

DT Keith Hamilton, Giants, tore his right Achilles' tendon. Teammate Michael Strahan had back spasms that limited his duty. ... QB Mark Brunell, Jaguars, was sidelined with a concussion at Tennessee. ... QB Rodney Peete, Panthers, didn't play in the second half at Dallas with a headache. ... Jaguars RT Maurice Williams broke his right leg in the first half against Tennessee. ... Rams LT Grant Williams broke his lower right leg and dislocated his right ankle.

SPEAKING

"Their quarterback played a heck of a game, but we made him look like he was ready for the Hall of Fame." - Giants coach Jim Fassel on Atlanta's Doug Johnson.
