Unhappy return for Bengals' Burris

INDIANAPOLIS Bengals cornerback Jeff Burris wasn't in the mood to talk after Sunday's game.
He had come back to Indianapolis, where he played the last four seasons before joining the Bengals this year.
As the starting left cornerback, Burris was matched against one of his best friends, Colts right outside receiver Marvin Harrison.
But Harrison got the best of Burris and the rest of the Bengals secondary Sunday, catching nine passes for 145 yards and one touchdown in Indianapolis' 28-21 victory.
No comment, Burris said when approached in the locker room after the game.
Burris also was called for a 34-yard pass interference penalty against Harrison. But Burris did gain a measure of atonement by deflecting a Peyton Manning pass that was intercepted in the end zone by Bengals cornerback Artrell Hawkins.
Harrison also caught a 69-yard deep ball from Manning to set up what was the winning touchdown. Harrison ran past Burris in a cover-two defense. Rookie free safety Lamont Thompson was late coming over to help, which is his assignment.
Harrison caught the ball, faked out Thompson and ran to the 8-yard line before Thompson caught him from behind. A roughing-the-passer penalty on Hawkins on the same play moved the ball to the 3, where Edgerrin James ran in for the score. James' touchdown made it 28-14.
Harrison caught a 3-yard pass from Manning in the second quarter for a 21-0 lead. It was the 50th TD pass for the dynamic duo since they hooked up in 1998.
The Manning-Harrison connection has now been good for 5,770 yards.
For the past four years, it was Burris who played against Harrison in practice, and Harrison praised Burris after the game and questioned the rest of the Cincinnati secondary.
He's one of the toughest guys. He doesn't have the help that a lot of other DBs have in this league, Harrison said. He's out there by himself.
