Mark Curnutte's NFL picks
Saints' McAllister has big test today against Bears
Two of the NFL's unbeaten teams, New Orleans and Chicago, play the marquee game of the week today.
Deuce McAllister has stepped in and made Saints fans forget about Ricky Williams. McAllister has 232 rushing yards in two games.
The Bears will counter with big-play linebacker Brian Urlacher, who sacked Michael Vick twice last week, recovered a fumble and had a game-high 13 tackles against Atlanta.
Jim Miller is 15-7 as the Bears' starting quarterback, and Chicago is 2-0 for the first time since 1991.
SAINTS (2-0) at BEARS (2-0): Chicago's banged-up defense won't be able to contain the triple threat of Aaron Brooks, Joe Horn and McAllister, who has 232 yards rushing in two games. SAINTS 23-17.
COLTS (1-1) at TEXANS (1-1): Peyton Manning has empathy for David Carr but will show Houston's defense no sympathy. Don't forget, in spite of the hype and media-darling status, the Texans are an expansion team. COLTS 28-9.
JETS (1-1) at DOLPHINS (2-0): Miami has scored touchdowns on nine of 10 red-zone drives. What impact has Ricky Williams had? He could become the first Miami back to have three consecutive 100-yard games. New York's eight-game win streak against Miami comes to an end. DOLPHINS 24-14.
PANTHERS (2-0) at VIKINGS (0-2): Carolina will get a rude awakening on the road against the mediocre Vikings 1/2ndash 3/4 who are a notch above the Panthers' first two opponents, Baltimore and Detroit. VIKINGS 31-21.
CHIEFS (1-1) at PATRIOTS (2-0): New England has won 11 consecutive games and has not allowed more than 17 points a game during the streak. PATRIOTS 21-14.
COWBOYS (1-1) at EAGLES (1-1): Donovan McNabb proves once again why he is the league's MVP. He has won four of five career starts against Dallas. Make that five of six. Philly has won the last four by a combined 133-48 score. EAGLES 27-18.
BROWNS (1-1) at TITANS (1-1): Cleveland has scored 59 points in two starts, most in consecutive games for the franchise since December 1993. But a QB controversy rages in Cleveland. Butch Davis should stick with Kelly Holcomb's hot hand. BROWNS 22-17.
CHARGERS (2-0) at CARDINALS (1-1): The San Diego defense has allowed just nine points in two games (Bengals and Texans). Schottenheimer's men also are giving up a league-best 160.5 yards a game. And they're good on offense, too. CHARGERS 24-10.
BILLS (1-1) at BRONCOS (2-0): This game will be a good test to see how good Drew Bledsoe really is in his new surroundings. Denver will shut down the run, so Bledsoe will have to win this one by himself. BRONCOS 30-20.
PACKERS (1-1) at LIONS (0-2): This is just what Green Bay needs after its tough loss in New Orleans - a visit to Detroit to play the worse-than-ever Lions. Brett Favre will have another big day. PACKERS 35-6.
SEAHAWKS (0-2) at GIANTS (1-1): Former college teammates Jim Fassel and Mike Holmgren (USC) square off. N.Y. quarterback Kerry Collins was 22-for-26 passing last week and should stay hot. GIANTS 17-13.
REDSKINS (1-1) at 49ERS (1-1): SF coach Steve Mariucci will exact his revenge on Steve Spurrier for Washington's preseason blowout. Spurrier, by the way, was San Francisco's first-round draft pick in 1967. 49ERS 27-20.
RAMS (0-2) at BUCCANEERS (1-1): Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden says St.Louis is much better than its freaky record. Tampa Bay is poised for its third consecutive victory over the Rams. BUCS 22-20.
BENGALS (0-2) at FALCONS (0-2): Falcons 20-16.
LAST WEEK: 9-7; SEASON: 17-15
