In spite of their poor overall record in the past 11 seasons, the Bengals generally have been ready-for-prime-time players in their last five national TV games:

        • On Sunday night, Oct. 2, 1994, they lost 23-7 to Miami in a father-son coaching matchup between the Dolphins' Don Shula and the Bengals' Dave Shula at Riverfront Stadium.

        • On Thursday night, Oct. 19, 1995, the Bengals upset Pittsburgh 27-9 at Three Rivers Stadium, a performance that woke up the Steelers and led to their Super Bowl run.

        • On Sunday night, Oct. 6, 1996, the Houston Oilers defeated the Bengals 30-27 in overtime at Cinergy Field.

        • On Thursday night, Dec. 4, 1997, the Bengals pounded the Tennessee Oilers 41-14 at Cinergy Field. Bengals running back Corey Dillon set the then-NFL single-game rookie rushing record of 246 yards with four touchdowns.

        • On Sunday night, Sept. 27, 1998, the Bengals lost 31-24 to the Ravens in Baltimore when running back Priest Holmes made his first NFL start and outran Dillon 173-116.
