No TV for Bengals-Chargers
Bengals notebook

Of 16 opening-weekend NFL games, only the Bengals-San Diego Chargers contest at Paul Brown Stadium was listed Thursday as a non-sellout.
The Bengals failed to meet the 1 p.m. deadline Thursday, meaning their 1 p.m. Sunday game will not be televised in the Greater Cincinnati market.
Eleven games were listed as sellouts, including Thursday night's New York Giants-San Francisco 49ers opener.
The remaining four home teams are so close to selling out that they received one-day blackout extensions from the NFL, a league spokesman said. Those teams are the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins.
OUCH: Bengals defensive tackle Glen Steele hyperextended his left elbow during practice. He had it wrapped and returned to practice.
Steele also required medical attention Wednesday. He is allergic to bee stings and was stung during practice. A team trainer had to give Steele a shot to prevent Steele's throat from swelling.
INJURY REPORT: Five Bengals are probable for Sunday: tight end Sean Brewer (knee), guard Mike Goff (leg), guard Victor Leyva (ankle), linebacker Takeo Spikes (chest) and wide receiver Michael Westbrook (wrist).
DIDN'T SEE IT: Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau was asked this week if he saw the gambling books that listed him as the odds-on favorite to be the first NFL coach to be fired or resign this season.
Fortunately, I have not read those books, said LeBeau, who has a 10-19 career record. We all have responsibilities and jobs to do. Hopefully, we all do them to the best of our ability. Maybe even better than that, because maybe some of us don't know what our best is.
OLD SCHOOL: Chargers quarterback Drew Brees said he doesn't understand why his former Purdue teammate, Bengals kicker Travis Dorsch, will be inactive Sunday.
I hear they haven't had Travis punt at all, Brees said during a conference call with reporters who cover the Bengals. He only led the nation in punting last year.
I just think it was funny because somebody told me all he was doing was kicking, and he wasn't punting. I guess he was an All-American in both, but the fact that he averaged 50 yards a punt is pretty good.
