Trent Dilfer's chances of starting Seattle's regular-season opener don't look good.
Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Monday that tests on the right knee Dilfer injured in Saturday night's 28-10 exhibition loss to Indianapolis indicated he would be out four-to-eight weeks. That makes his status doubtful for the team's Sept.8 opener at Oakland.
Dilfer was hurt with 2:02 gone in the second quarter after completing 9-of-11 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
The Seahawks led 10-0 when Dilfer left. He was replaced by Matt Hasselbeck, who was 14-for-22 passing for 139 yards, with two interceptions.
Dilfer signed a one-year contract with Seattle before last season to back up Hasselbeck, who had never started a regular-season game before coming to the Seahawks from Green Bay at the start of last season.
BILLS: Buffalo's offensive line, already down two injured starters, suffered another blow when both starting left tackle Jonas Jennings (sprained ankle) and his replacement, Marcus Price (concussion), were hurt.
BRONCOS: Results from an MRI exam on Terrell Davis' swollen left knee showed no structural damage, but Denver's star running back isn't sure when he'll be able to practice.
Davis, who has had four knee surgeries in three years, received a cortisone shot to reduce the swelling and another injection to help ease an arthritic condition in his knee.
CHIEFS: Running back Frank Moreau signed a two-year deal with Kansas City, which drafted him in 2000 and cut him a year later.
FALCONS: Linebacker Sam Rogers, who spent most of his career with Buffalo, joined Atlanta. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder played in 15 games last season with San Diego, finishing with four tackles and one sack.
JAGUARS: Backup center Kevin Long injured his right knee during morning practice. MRI results were pending, but Jacksonville coach Tom Coughlin said the initial diagnosis was a damaged MCL.
PACKERS: Terry Glenn's latest injury, a strained left knee, is worse than first thought, and the Green Bay receiver will miss a week to 10 days of camp. He has been sidelined since Wednesday with a strained ligament in his left knee, his second injury of camp.
