Vick hurts shoulder, says he's OK
Atlanta QB hopes to play on Friday
Enquirer staff and news services
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick hurt his left shoulder during a passing drill Monday, but he doesn't think the injury will keep him out of the first preseason game.
Vick may have tweaked his rotator cuff while throwing a sidearm pass during non-contact drills in the morning. His shoulder was wrapped in ice at lunch, and he didn't throw any passes at the afternoon practice.

They told me to sit out today, said Vick, who did work on handoffs and audibles. It's a little sore, but I'm back tomorrow.
Falcons coach Dan Reeves said the second-year quarterback was taking anti-inflammatory medication to cope with the pain.
49ERS: Rookie cornerback Michael Rumph pleaded innocent to driving under the influence in Miami, and a warrant for his arrest was revoked.
BROWNS: First-round rookie running back William Green was kept out of practice. Green hurt his right shoulder during practice against the Buffalo Bills on Friday in Rochester, N.Y., and although X-rays were negative, the Browns sat him for Saturday's scrimmage and Monday's practice as a precaution.
BUCS: Receiver Keenan McCardell sprained his left knee during a passing drill and could be sidelined for a week.
When you jog back for nine-on-seven (drills) and you see your starting flanker carried off in a golf cart, that's not a real good way to start your day, Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden said. But I think he's going to be OK.
McCardell was injured when he got tangled with cornerback Brian Kelly while making a catch in the end zone. Both players fell to the ground, where McCardell remained - resting on one knee - until trainers went onto the field to assist him.
JETS: All-Pro defensive end John Abraham sprained his left knee in practice Saturday, but plans to be in the lineup when New York opens its season in less than five weeks.
An MRI examination revealed a second-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament, and the team estimated he will be out 4-to-6 weeks.
Abraham thinks otherwise.
I'm confident I'll be back before the first game in Buffalo, Abraham said. I'm shooting for the last preseason game or the first game. I feel I'll be ready in four weeks.
PATRIOTS: New England's new $325 million field will be called Gillette Stadium, ending the team's association with Internet holding company CMGI.
The deal with Boston-based Gillette Corp. is for 15 years. The cost was not announced.
CMGI agreed to pay $114 million for naming rights to the stadium in 2000, when its stock was trading at $44 per share. The company has piled up hundreds of millions of dollars of losses and its shares are now trading around 40 cents.
The Super Bowl champions make their debut in the new stadium Aug.17 in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Patriots unveiled a new stadium banner and a logo on the grass at midfield. Road signs to the stadium still read CMGI Field, and Kraft could not say when those would be changed.
The move is the latest indication that the stadium naming industry is shifting towards traditional, more stable companies. The Baltimore Ravens renamed their field Ravens Stadium after its former corporate sponsor, PSINet, went bankrupt. Enron Field in Houston became Minute Maid Park.
