NFL Notes
The Associated Press
GIANTS: New York made no progress in contract talks with first-round pick Jeremy Shockey. The former Miami tight end has missed the first four days of training camp.
Drew Rosenhaus, Shockey's agent, said the chances of reaching an agreement improved with the recent signing of Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney and Browns running back William Green.
PATRIOTS: A mysterious virus has kept right guard Joe Andruzzi from practice.
Andruzzi said he is frustrated with the infection that has wracked his body with pain since a few weeks after New England's Super Bowl victory.
There aren't many straight answers for it, he said.
It's just been a frustrating thing I've been going through, and I'm just trying to fight through it.
BILLS: Buffalo activated tight end Jay Riemersma off the physically unable to perform list.
BROWNS: Rookie running back William Green reported to training camp Sunday, one day after ending his holdout and signing a five-year, $7.85 million contract.
CHIEFS: Kansas City wide receiver Mark Boerigter fell ill during training camp and had his appendix removed.
Boerigter was treated at a Minneapolis hospital, and the Chiefs said he might be able to return to practice Friday.
We talked to the doctors, coach Dick Vermeil said. It wasn't bad. He'll be fine. This was just a normal operation. They said he was in such great shape, it was relatively a minor operation. They said he could jog tomorrow.
JAGUARS: Jacksonville defensive end Stalin Colinet tore cartilage in his left knee and is out indefinitely. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery, which has not yet been scheduled, and is expected to be sidelined for 2-to-4 weeks.
TITANS: Tennessee starting cornerback Samari Rolle could miss the remainder of training camp after severely spraining his right ankle.
