TE Brewer finally back in action

Bengals' tight end Sean Brewer put on his helmet Tuesday to practice for the first time since Aug. 2. The second-year tight end, projected as the starter next season, has been out with a minor hamstring injury he suffered before minicamp.
It felt good. I didn't feel like a coach anymore, Brewer said after the 90-minute voluntary morning workout. I got to put the helmet on. It was great to get ready for an actual prac tice, get out there, move around a little bit.
Brewer participated in some drills and a few plays, and he closed practice with an ice pack strapped to the back of his right leg.
We're not going to push it too hard with this being May, Brewer said. The intention is to come in 100 percent to training camp.
Brewer is two to three weeks away from being 100 percent, Bengals trainer Paul Sparling said.
Brewer last practiced Aug.2 at training camp. He injured his groin that afternoon, two days before the preseason opener at Chicago, and his season ended a month later when he was placed on the injured reserve list.
Brewer said he could have played in September, and he was the first of four Bengals tight ends to suffer season-ending injuries.
Every once in a while, I would go in the equipment room and have them pull out my helmet so I could put it on, Brewer said.
Although he has not played a down in the NFL, Brewer was promoted to No.1 tight end when nine-year veteran Tony McGee was released in April.
