Today could be Chad Johnson's day

Titans' vulnerable to pass

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Bengals passing game busted out with 401 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers — after totaling just 399 yards and no passing scores in the previous three games.

Tennessee is last in the NFL in pass defense at 249.9 yards a game, and Browns quarterback Tim Couch threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns in last week's 41-38 Cleveland victory. Six different Browns receivers had receptions of 20 or more yards, including three of 41 or more.

Titans cornerback Samari Rolle, cousin of Bengals receiver Chad Johnson, suffered a concussion and a foot injury, but is expected to play today. He has started 12 games and would be the Titans' best defensive back from a group that includes safeties Perry Phenix and Aric Morris and cornerbacks Michael Booker and DeRon Jenkins, all reserves who have played more than anticipated because of injuries.

The Titans have just 11 interceptions.

Johnson didn't have a particularly big game against the Steelers, but he did have two catches for 25 yards. Bengals wide receivers Darnay Scott and Peter Warrick each had more than 100 receiving yards, and rookie T.J. Houshmandzadeh had 98.

Today could be Johnson's day. Quarterback Jon Kitna has said he will continue to look for Johnson on deep patterns. Johnson, a rookie, has 26 catches for an 11.3-yard average and one touchdown in 11 games.
