Roman lost to broken finger; Bean to start at cornerback
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Starting cornerback Mark Roman is out for the Baltimore game Sunday after suffering a fracture of the middle finger on his left hand.
The bone broke through Roman's skin, Bengals trainer Paul Sparling said.
Robert Bean will take Roman's place in the lineup and start opposite Artrell Hawkins.
Roman had started the last eight games and was 10th on the team with 51 tackles, including two sacks. He also has one interception and recovered one fumble.
Sparling said Roman would be evaluated on a weekly basis after Sunday. The injury occurred in practice when a ball hit Roman's hand awkwardly in a one-on-one drill.
LOSING STREAK:
The Bengals have lost three games in a row at PSINet Stadium, and their most recent game at the Ravens' stadium was Bruce Coslet's last as Bengals coach, a 37-0 loss Sept.24, 2000. He resigned the next day.
The Bengals' 21-10 victory over Baltimore at Paul Brown Stadium on Sept.23 broke a six-game series winning streak for the Ravens.
SUPER UPSETS:
The Bengals are 6-5 in their last 11 games against defending Super Bowl champions, including the September victory over Baltimore.
INJURIES:
Linebacker Steve Foley (back) is questionable for Sunday's game. Tackle Willie Anderson (ankle) and cornerback Bo Jennings (ankle) are probable.
