Scott's status still uncertain

Bengals notebook

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Bengals wide receiver Darnay Scott is still questionable for Sunday's game at Cleveland because of bruised ribs.

Scott has felt better every day this week and ran during Friday's practice, although he didn't participate in drills.

“He'll be a Sunday-morning decision,” coach Dick LeBeau said after practice.

If Scott can't play, the good news for the Bengals is rookie wide receiver Chad Johnson probably will play for the first time since breaking his collarbone Oct.14 against the Browns.

“I think Chad's going to be ready,” LeBeau said.

NO NICK: Don't look for fullback Nick Williams to make his debut in his new role as H-back, a combination of fullback and tight end, against the Browns.

“He is a possibility, but the probability is he'll get one more week,” LeBeau said.

BIG HURT: Offensive tackle Willie Anderson, whose size 19-EEE shoes are the largest in Bengals history, missed Friday's practice with a sore foot but is expected to play Sunday.

BROWNS BIT: Cleveland, which is favored for the first time in 42 games since returning to the NFL as an expansion team in 1999, has seen its line drop to 4 1/2 points after coach Butch Davis suspended starting defensive tackle Gerard Warren for the Bengals game.

Warren was arrested early Tuesday outside a Pittsburgh nightclub and charged with a felony for having an unregistered .45- caliber Glock handgun in his car.

The Browns' 5-4 start has raised them from a 200-1 long shot to win the Super Bowl to 60-1 odds, according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants.

The 5-4 record under Davis equals the number of victories the Browns had their first two seasons under former coach Chris Palmer, who was 5-27.
