Isolation Booth

Bengals' Lorenzo Neal Vs. Titans' Randall Godfrey

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Bengals fullback Lorenzo Neal was part of two Tennessee Titans teams that were 26-6 and went to the 2000 Super Bowl.

He was lead blocker for Eddie George last season when George had a career-high 1,509 yards rushing.

Neal was a salary-cap casualty in Tennessee, which left him available for the Bengals to sign as a free agent in May after projected starting fullback Nick Williams seriously injured his knee.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher has said he respects Neal, respects how he went 100 mph, but questioned his ability to always block the right defender. Neal took polite exception, and although the two men appear to have patched their differences, Neal figures to be going 120 mph today in his first game against his former team.

The Bengals need to get their star running back, Corey Dillon, going again after a 58-yard game at Jacksonville.

Neal should be running into Tennessee's linebackers all day, particularly its leading tackler, middle linebacker Randall Godfrey.

Godfrey has 68 tackles, including six for losses. He still was listed as questionable Friday for today's game with a knee injury, and if he can't go, backup Frank Chamberlin (who played Monday against Baltimore) will have to deal with Neal to get to Dillon.
