Webb faced with stopping McKenzie
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cleveland right defensive end Keith McKenzie was as responsible as any Browns player for spoiling the Bengals' first game in Paul Brown Stadium 13 months ago.
He had three sacks of Akili Smith, all at key times, and earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. That was the beginning of the end for former Bengals left tackle Rod Jones, now a Rams backup.
McKenzie will be matched today against veteran Bengals left tackle Richmond Webb, who has shown in four games that he hasn't lost his ability to use pass rushers' energy against them and push them beyond reach of the quarterback. He did it for Dan Marino in Miami and is now one reason Jon Kitna has been sacked just seven times.
McKenzie, starting this season primarily because of the injury to Courtney Brown, is nonetheless off to a good start. He has 10 tackles, one sack and 26 yes, 26 - backfield pressures.
Webb and his fellow linemen have done a good job in pass protection, but they share the blame for the running game's slow start. Corey Dillon often has had to make a move or two on defenders just to get back to the line of scrimmage.
