New grass field arrives
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The new Paul Brown Stadium sod was scheduled to arrive late Tuesday night from the New Jersey farm where it was grown.
About 30 refrigerated trucks will bring the bluegrass sod to Cincinnati, where installation is expected to begin this morning.
Doug Bradley, head groundskeeper at Paul Brown Stadium, will supervise installation.
The Bengals played on a Bermuda grass field last season because the original bluegrass field was affected by a drought.
ANOTHER VIEW: Coach Dick LeBeau welcomed running back Corey Dillon to the voluntary veteran workout Tuesday morning, four days after Dillon signed the richest contract in franchise history.
Corey weighs within two pounds of his playing weight (225 pounds), and I've seen him get heavier than that in the offseason, LeBeau said. That's a good indicator he's been doing a lot.
LeBeau, who will take the Bengals into his first training camp July 20 as head coach, was pleased to have the negotiations completed. There are always going to be distractions, he said, but the fewer you have, the better you are.
WILLIAMS SURGERY: Bengals fullback Nick Williams will have surgery performed on his torn knee ligament May 22 by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
