Bengals all here for minicamp

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Every Bengals player expected Friday for a 6 p.m. meeting with coach Dick LeBeau did show up at Paul Brown Stadium. The first practice will be from 2:15-5 p.m. today.

LeBeau says the 2001 Bengals aren't the same team that limped out of Philadelphia on Dec. 24 to end a second straight 4-12 season.

He points to new starters Richmond Webb at left tackle and Tony Williams and Kevin Henry on the defensive line. LeBeau also mentioned that free-agent signee Jon Kitna was a playoff quarterback two years ago in Seattle.

The team is much older than it has been. Nine players 30 or older will participate in minicamp.

Minicamp also will mark the debuts of new offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski and defensive coordinator Mark Duffner.

        The weekend schedule is:

        • Sunday: 10 a.m.-noon and 3-5p.m., practice.

        • Monday: 10 a.m.-noon, practice.

The Bengals will have a series of voluntary veteran workouts in May. Training camp will open July 20 at Georgetown College.
