Bengals, Ross agree on 1-year deal

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Fourth-year linebacker Adrian Ross, a restricted free agent, will sign a one-year tender offer of $512,000 when he reports Friday to Bengals minicamp.

Ross, who made four starts in 2000, doesn't want to miss any workouts. He and Armegis Spearman will play right outside linebacker this weekend because starter Takeo Spikes is recovering from shoulder surgery.

“We're making an effort to win this year,” Ross said Tuesday from Sacramento, Calif. “I want to get in and work on the defense.”

Ross had 33 tackles, including a sack, and three passes defensed in 2000. He had a seven-tackle game at home against Tennessee but cut his hand at Tennessee in the season's 14th game. He was inactive the last two games.

He's enthused by what he has seen from the front office in the offseason.

“The Bengals are doing a good job addressing the needs in areas we've been lacking,” Ross said. “I want to get in.”

The Bengals will practice Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
