Bengals trying to sign Webb
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Former Dolphins left tackle Richmond Webb is the latest left tackle the Bengals are hoping to sign.
Webb, 34, who started all 16 games for Miami a year ago, visited Paul Brown Stadium on Thursday, and on Friday his agents started to negotiate with the Bengals.
Bengals scout Duke Tobin, who is handling the Webb situation, said the two sides were in the feeling out process Friday and expected to start talking about specific dollar figures Monday.
Webb, a seven-time AFC Pro Bowl player, made $4 million last year.
The Bengals have one former Pro Bowl left tackle, Jackson, on their roster. But Jackson is 36 and was hampered by a hamstring injury last year.
The Bengals also are hoping veteran Rod Jones, who has lost 33 pounds to get down to 317, will regain the form that made him a starter in 1999.
The Bengals tried to sign free agent left tackles Todd Steussie and Ross Verba, but Steussie went to Carolina and Verba to Cleveland.
