Mack in court today
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Bengals safety/kick returner Tremain Mack has a hearing today before Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Ralph E. Winkler for allegedly violating terms of his probation.
Mack is on probation stemming from a DUI arrest and has a suspended license. In November, Channel 5 (WLWT-TV) taped Mack driving to and from practice at Paul Brown Stadium.
DILLON TRIAL SCHEDULED: In Federal Way, Wash., a pretrial hearing scheduled for today in Corey Dillon's domestic violence case has been canceled, Jesse Franklin, Dillon's lawyer, said Monday. The case now is scheduled to go to trial the week of Jan. 22.
Dillon, 26, is charged with fourth-degree assault in connection to an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife, Desiree, on Aug. 26 in suburban Seattle.
A Pro Bowler for the second consecutive year, Dillon has repeatedly denied hitting his wife and said he was only defending himself from her blows.
SCOUTING BLANKET: Bengals coaches and scouts are going coast to coast in search of college players.
Six are in Orlando, Fla., this week watching practice for Saturday's Gridiron Classic at the Citrus Bowl. They are Jim Lippincott, the team's director of pro/college personnel, scout Duke Tobin and assistant coaches Tim Krumrie (defensive line), Jim Anderson (running backs), Al Roberts (special teams) and Louie Cioffi (defensive assistant).
They do it up right, Lippincott said of the week. The practice live in pads.
Meanwhile, LeBeau and five assistants are in San Francisco this week scouting players who will participate in the annual East-West Shrine Game. Also on the trip are Paul Alexander (offensive line), Frank Verducci (tight ends), Steve Mooshagian (wide receivers), Mark Duffner (defensive coordinator) and Ray Horton (defensive backfield/safeties).
COORDINATOR SEARCH: LeBeau Monday asked for and received permission to talk to Steelers receivers coach Bob Bratkowski for the offensive coordinator's job.
LeBeau also is expected to interview fired Steelers coordinator Kevin Gilbride in Mobile, Ala., next week.
LeBeau will be there to scout the Senior Bowl all-star game.
Oregon offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford told LeBeau that he would not be interested.
