Bengals Notebook

Dugans falls off depth chart

By Tom Groeschen
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Rookie receiver Ron Dugans, who started the first five games this year, was placed on the Friday inactive list. His playing time has dwindled in recent weeks, as Craig Yeast has moved into the starting lineup.

Cornerback Mark Roman, safety JoJuan Armour, and linebacker Canute Curtis (injured) also were placed on the Friday inactive list.

Left tackle John Jackson (hamstring) should return to the lineup in place of Rod Jones, LeBeau said. Jackson missed last week's game because of injury.

DILLON FIRES AGENT: Bengals running back Corey Dillon has notified the Bengals that he has fired his agent, Marvin Demoff. Players' union guidelines state a player has to wait five days before hooking up with another agent.

Dillon will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and Bengals officials say they want to re-sign Dillon regardless of who represents him. He earns $3 million this year.

RUNNING MEN: The Bengals' rushing game dropped from No.1 to No.4 in the NFL this week, after Baltimore held Cincinnati to 44 rushing yards Sunday.

This week, the Bengals face a Dallas defense that is No.31 (last) in the NFL vs. the run. Dallas is tied for No.8 in rushing offense, led by future Hall of Fame halfback Emmitt Smith.

“This will be two teams that probably want to run the ball a little bit,” coach Dick LeBeau said. “And it could be very easily decided by the passing game.”
