Players to watch
When Bengals run
The explosion of the Bengals running game coincided with the promotion of veteran left tackle John Jackson into the lineup.
Jackson tightened up the left side of the line, but he injured a hamstring last week in Cleveland and is out this week. Rod Jones will be back into the starting lineup and will be counted on to seal off the backside of running plays that go to the right.
Jackson maintained his blocks and allowed Corey Dillon to cut back to the left against defenses that over-pursued.
When Bengals pass
Rod Woodson now plays safety in his 13th season but still has the ball-hawking skills of a cornerback. He has three interceptions this season, two fumble recoveries and 46 tackles.
He has more interceptions, 10, against Cincinnati and picked off a Scott Mitchell pass in the Sept. 24 game in Baltimore.
Once Woodson gets his hands on the ball, he's a threat to score. He has returned seven of his 57 career interceptions for touchdowns. A defensive touchdown today would make the difference.
When Ravens run
Left defensive tackle Oliver Gibson, the only Bengals lineman to start all eight games, has effectively held his ground and tied up blockers to free Cincinnati linebackers to make tackles.
One of the most intelligent players on the team, Gibson can determine quickly whether to penetrate the backfield or stay at the line on his blocker.
Baltimore's running game also is its strength, and Gibson will play a key role in trying to keep rookie Jamal Lewis and Bengal-killer Priest Holmes in check.
When Ravens pass
Ravens quarterback Trent Dilfer was a Pro Bowler in 1997 for Tampa Bay. He made his first start last Sunday against Pittsburgh and failed, like Tony Banks before him, to snap Baltimore's streak without a touchdown. It stands at 20 quarters.
Dilfer threw for 152 yards against the Steelers but fumbled the snap on a third-down and short play on the Pittsburgh 9 on the opening drive. He'll be without rookie wide receiver Travis Taylor and should be looking Shannon Sharpe's way all day.
