Players to watch
When Bengals run
Corey Dillon will run the ball between 20 and 25 times today. Even if he's stopped on several consecutive carries, he'll keep getting it.
The question is: Can the Browns stop Dillon? They did the first time the two teams played. Dillon had only 41 yards on 12 carries in the opener. But former Bengals coach Bruce Coslet was quicker to pull the plug on the running game than coach Dick LeBeau.
Dillon had 360 of his 1,200 yards last year against Cleveland. He wants to avenge his 41-yard game and follow his record-setting 278-yard game with another big effort.
When Bengals pass
Browns rookie defensive end Courtney Brown is becoming a regular visitor to opposing teams' backfields.
The first overall draft pick in the draft recorded his fourth sack last week in Pittsburgh and now has 17 quarterback pressures. Brown is one reason Cleveland's sack total has improved. It now has 20 sacks.
Brown will have to get through the Bengals' best offensive lineman, Willie Anderson, to get to Smith.
Of course, on the other end of Cleveland's line is Keith McKenzie, who also has four sacks, three that came against the Bengals in the opener.
When Browns run
Former Miami University star Travis Prentice will make his fourth NFL start today. He became the featured back when Errict Rhett was lost to a season-ending foot injury Oct. 1 against Baltimore.
Prentice's first start was a good one. He had 97 yards rushing and three touchdowns against Arizona.
But he has struggled the last two weeks as has the Browns' entire offense with 27 and 48 yards on the ground.
He has 235 yards rushing and 112 yards receiving this season. His first career score came on a 16-yard run against the Bengals in the Paul Brown Stadium opener.
When Browns pass
With regular strong safety Cory Hall still wobbly from a concussion, veteran backup Chris Carter will make his second consecutive start.
Carter had been a special teams player exclusively until the opening minutes of the Bengals' game at Pittsburgh on Oct. 15. Carter came in and tied for the team lead with nine tackles. Last week against Denver, he had a fumble recovery and an interception only the second by a Cincinnati defensive back in seven games.
Carter should see plenty of tight end Aaron Shea, who has 18 receptions for 213 yards and one touchdown.
