Lapham: Duffner approached first
Dave Lapham, the Bengals' radio analyst, showed how good his Bengals sources were Monday by reporting that assistant coach Mark Duffner was also considered as a replacement for Bruce Coslet.
(Mike Brown) talked to Duffner about the position, Lapham said. But Duffner threw his support to Dick LeBeau.
LeBeau, of course, was named to replace Coslet.
People are making a big deal of it than I thought they would, Lapham said. I viewed it as Duffner supporting LeBeau. Some others thought of it as LeBeau being the second choice.
