Bengals eye cuts for practice squad
By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Bengals scouts, coaches and team executives met for several hours Saturday discussing roster moves to get down to the 53-man limit.
Three veterans were cut: guard Brian DeMarco, running back Sedrick Shaw and defensive tackle Andre Purvis.
The other eight Bengals released Sunday are eligible for the practice squad: safety JoJuan Armour, wide receiver LaVell Boyd, wide receiver Marvin Chalmers, tackle Mike Doughty, cornerback Brian Gray, cornerback Sirr Parker, defensive tackle Chad Pegues and guard Roger Roesler.
The Bengals have identified five or six players they hope to keep on the practice squad.
The practice squad is an important part of this team, Lippincott said. When you need a player in the middle of the year, the first place you go is our own practice squad, our own guys.
Lippincott and other Bengals personnel executives began examining Sunday the list of players released by the other 30 NFL teams.
