Scott's bad check charge dropped

By Mark Curnutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — A theft by deception charge against Bengals receiver Darnay Scott was dismissed Thursday in Boone District Court.

Scott, who will miss the season because of a broken leg suffered during training camp, was arrested July 20 at his Florence home in connection to a bad check he had written to a Florence motorcycle shop.

The owners of J&J Custom Cycles said Scott wrote them a bad check for $5,157.92 in June and failed several times to make it good.

Scott spent a night in the Boone County Jail and quickly covered the check, which was to pay for repairs on a custom-built motorcycle.

Scott's lawyer appeared in court for him Aug. 4, and Scott issued a written apology to the store owners, his teammates and the Bengals organization for the embarrassment the incident had caused.
